Service 11/20/2020 (Learning Outcome 4)
Throughout the world there are people living in poverty and starvation. During COVID-19 this problem has only worsened as many people lost there jobs and are no longer able to feed their families. One organization that takes action agains this problem of global hunger, but on a more local scale, is Kids Meals. This organization delivers lunches to kids around Houston who might not otherwise get it, especially if they are not in school. I went to volunteer at Kids Meals to make sandwiches to give out to the kids. There were several other volunteers there, and I was amazed with the productivity as everyone worked together to make as many sandwiches as they could. In the end I think we had to have made at least 500 in about 2 and a half hours, which is a lot! That's a lot of kids who would not otherwise get lunch that are able to be fed because of the work we were doing.
