Activity 11/4/2020 (Learning outcome 5)

One of my favorite times of the year is volleyball season. Each volleyball season involves learning new skills and challenging ourselves to play better as a team and improve on our weaknesses. Each year I am continually amazed by how much more there is to learn each season. You might think you know a lot, but there are so many skills and techniques and ways to help you read the court and better understand the game that take so much time and effort to improve. Each day we go to practice we work on improving or learning new skills. One of the biggest challenges of the season this year is having such little time to practice. With the addition of the high school boys teams, twice a week is not nearly enough time to perfect our skills to the level we want to get them to. Activity 12/9/2020 (Learning outcome 2)

One activity that I have been doing a little bit of lately is boxing. Not only does it help with technique and strength and a little bit of self defense, but it is also great cardio. It took a lot more work than I expected to develop the correct technique, but while I was doing it I kept getting nervous. It is a little frightning to be punching, at times as hard as you can, with someone standing well within the range of getting punched. Through this class I have been able to learn a lot of new skills. There is lots of technique that goes into each punch and each respective step. It can be difficult to keep all the combinations straight and takes lots of practice. It also takes a lot of cardio work. There are large amounts of excersizing involved to give you the proper strength to be successful in boxing. Although I am not competing or anything, I still think these are useful skills to have.
