Activity 11/4/2020 (Learning outcome 5)
One of my favorite times of the year is volleyball season. Each volleyball season involves learning new skills and challenging ourselves to play better as a team and improve on our weaknesses. Each year I am continually amazed by how much more there is to learn each season. You might think you know a lot, but there are so many skills and techniques and ways to help you read the court and better understand the game that take so much time and effort to improve. Each day we go to practice we work on improving or learning new skills. One of the biggest challenges of the season this year is having such little time to practice. With the addition of the high school boys teams, twice a week is not nearly enough time to perfect our skills to the level we want to get them to. Despite this I feel like our team has been able to perservere and work as hard as we can to make major improvements as a team.
One of the biggest challenges I find we have faced this year is communicating with eachother, especially during games. There can be so much happening that we find it difficult to focus on one thing and not run into eachother or let the volleyball fall to the floor. It has been a sort of awkard time, and we haven't had as much time as we would like to practice, so this has definitely posed challenges during our games, but our team has done a great job of overcoming this. This has helped me realize that volleyball more than I ever thought is a part of learning outcome 5. At the beginning of the season we were all just trying to improve by ourselves, which is helpful to an extent, but eventually is going to reach a limit. By beginning to work together and realize that we all need to be improving at the same rate, we were able to transform our team. This collaboration led to so much more success and we ended up having a really great time because of it.
