Creativity - CAS Project 5/11/21 (Learning Outcome 3)

Each week at our school, a 2 week interum term is offered giving students the chance to do an in depth focus on any of the many unique courses offered. They also have the opportunity to design their own courses and pursue their interests, whether by doing this individually or as a group course. Desiging a course requires finding resources to use to delve into a topic, finding experts to connect with, and planning what will take place each day. This year I decided to pursue my own individual a-term, where I would study the history and evolution of French patisserie, and also learn the skills and techniques required to master these culinary confections. To begin, I found an advisor to oversee the course, and I had meetings to plan and make sure I would meet all the standards required for a project like this. I spent several days researching peer reviewed sources, scouring amazon for the best book, and also finding complex recipes and helpful tips for mastering them. Eventually I had solidified a plan, and to my great excitement, it was approved!

Over the next week, even before A-term had started, I had to do planning finding recipes, making sure I had the right materials, buying groceries and just creating an organized schedule to be able to follow through with this plan. I also had to come up with an effective way to document this process, which I decided to do through videography and daily photo and written blogs. By the time the course was ready to begin I had created a solid plan of what I was going to be doing each day, a timeline for how to stay on track, and had also gathered several sources I would be using to find accurate and in depth research on my topic.

All of this planning for my project falls into learning outcome 3. I had to be extremely dedicated to planning this project to make sure it would get approved and end up successful. I did lots of research online, and put into practice my time management skills to organize everything. Overall I spent several days dedicated to making sure this would be something I could do and so I could pursue my passion for baking and learn all about the fascinating history of French baking.
