Activity 9/11/21 (Learning Outcome 1)
We had our first league volleyball game yesterday and it was a lot of fun! While we didn't play our best and we lost pretty badly to the other team, it was a game that really exposed our weaknesses and what we need to improve on. Many of the schools we are playing have been practicing since the summer, while we have only been practicing for a few weeks. Despite this, we still have been trying to take advantage of our practice time to be able to create the optimum team for our games. The game was far away, and everyone got to play which was nice and it was just fun to be back on the court. The game was very exhausting because there was a lot of running involved because the other teams hits were hard to get to, but we got more used to moving around the court and covering holes in our defense. Overall it was a fun game and good to be with the team, but we have a lot of improvements to make and hopefully we will do better when we play this team in the future. While it can be discouraging to play a team that seems a lot better, it is also a chance to measure our improvement throughout the course of the season.
This activity was a part of learning outcome 1, because although it may have felt discouraging in the moment, there were moments when it showed us how much potential we have and the improvements we can make to do better in our future games. There were some things we did well as a tema like encouraging eachother and suggesting changes if something was continually going wrong, but there are also things we cna work on like covering holes, talking more on the court and having more energy in general, and improving our plays, movement, and transitions on the court.
